We’re the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, or FRRR (F-triple-R) for short. A not-for-profit organisation, we connect common purposes and funding from government, business and philanthropy with the genuine local needs of rural people and places.

A vibrant, resilient and revitalised remote, rural and regional Australia.
FRRR provides funding and capacity building support at the hyper-local level. We have reach, relationships, networks, and know-how to align funding, big and small, to community-led solutions that build resilience and long-term viability and vitality of smaller remote, rural, and regional communities across Australia.
We are a trusted partner, driven by the needs and abilities of communities themselves. A big part of our job is to listen and build understanding, to amplify their voices, as well as facilitate funding to meet opportunities.
Delivering on real needs, at scale – big and small.
We both create and seek grants to fund projects. Since our start in 2000, we’ve delivered $155 million to nearly 13,000 projects.
Whether it’s support after a natural disaster, or something that can improve the wellbeing of the community, we’re about taking opportunities to support remote, rural and regional Australia.

FRRR is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all staff, volunteers and communities we engage with. We have developed our COVID Safe Plan which outlines the processes and procedures we have in place.
OUR HISTORY
FRRR arose out of concerns about economic and social decline in many rural areas, and was announced at the National Regional Summit in 1999. Early in 2000, FRRR ran its first grant round, receiving more than 260 applications from across Australia. We have been responding to the needs of local communities and supporting local leaders ever since.
OUR PEOPLE
At FRRR, we are fortunate to have a number of highly regarded people as our Patrons and serving voluntarily on our Board of Directors, guiding our activities. Like our talented and dedicated team, they have a passion and a vision for a vibrant, resilient and revitalised, remote, rural and regional Australia. After all, it’s where most of us live or grew up.
OUR INSIGHTS
FRRR regularly spends time in communities, on the phone to local leaders and reading grant applications. This gives us direct insights into the challenges and opportunities facing communities across the country. Each situation is different, and each community is different. That’s why we prioritise spending time in communities, and speaking with leaders.
