Local Solutions, Lasting Impact – Celebrating 25 years of FRRR

Insights Reports, 30 April 2025

The creation of FRRR recognised that remote, rural and regional communities face a different set of challenges to their urban counterparts, but that they are inherently resilient and hold the answers to their own challenges.

It was the vision of our Founders – especially the late Baillieu Myer AC, with the support of Helen Morris AM, and Hon. John Anderson AC – that these communities needed people in their corner backing them, believing in them and providing support to make their ideas a reality. This foresight led to the Regional Australia Summit and the Howard Government committing $10M to the creation of FRRR – a truly remarkable legacy.

Our Foundation is just as relevant – and needed – now, as it was 25 years ago.
