Partner Update: 11 March 2022
In the last quarter, we approved $5.58M in grants to support 357 projects via 13 programs. The average success rate was 43% – this was from 829 requests, seeking $11.84M. 88% of successful grants were fully funded. For every $1 granted, an additional $1.35 was leveraged in cash contributions and in-kind support.
Our reach into the NT and WA continues to grow, with grants to these states to the end of Quarter 2 already exceeding the total 2019/20 numbers. We have also seen strong distribution figures to projects supporting organisational capacity, especially in light of the constant changes and challenges of COVID, including responding to volunteer fatigue, as well as to projects that endeavour to celebrate vibrant culture in remote, rural and regional places.
Here are a couple of examples of the impact your support has had in communities:
- Lighting up the streets of Dirranbandi: the Dirranbandi Progress Association, in south west Queensland, sparked some joy in the township with a stunning, permanent fairy light installation and Christmas light display, using a $60,000 TTTT grant.
- Goldfields girls dream big, despite COVID: Goolari Media Enterprises, with help from an SRC grant, did everything in their power to ensure participants in the 2021 Goldfields Girls program continued to be engaged despite COVID restrictions, pivoting to online delivery of the leadership and work readiness program for young Indigenous women in the south eastern corner of WA, and using past winners in the training videos to pique interest.
In addition our granting, FRRR currently hosts 54 NFP and Community Foundation Fundraising Accounts. These accounts allow communities to fundraise effectively for local projects. In the last quarter, they have collectively raised $475,550 via 163 donations. The largest donation received in the last quarter was $76,201 to the Northern Rivers Community Foundation (NRCF).
DeadlyScience, once again, received the largest number of donations – 96. This will be the last time they make this list, as this account has now been because they received DGR-1 status. Congratulations to Deadly Science and FRRR wishes them all the best for their wonderful work in remote and rural education.
