Monto Magic Tourism Action Group Inc

This story was submitted as part of FRRR’s 25th birthday celebrations.

“We used FRRR funding to promote our town and district as a destination for tourists, day trippers and those seeking a safe, inclusive and vibrant community in which to live.

Without the funding, our district would have stagnated and been bypassed by many travellers. Shops would have continued to close, forcing a further decline in our population and reducing economic viability. We would have become a blip on the map. Instead, we have received an influx of new residents happy to call our district home. Economic growth through increased tourism has allowed businesses to prosper and grow, as well as encouraging new ones to start up.”

Monto Magic’s vision for the future

“By 2050, we hope that Monto will continue to be vibrant, with a strong population of mixed ages and skills that ensure the continued production of agriculture, a strong business community, the maintenance of current services such as health, aged care and education, as well as the return of other services lost over the years due to declining population and centralisation policies of various governments.”
