FRRR has awarded $34,000 in grants to bring to life four youth-led projects in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. The project ideas were developed as part of the ABC Takeover Goldfields Youth Summit, which was held in May.
The Summit, a collaboration between ABC, FRRR and the Australian Government’s Office for Youth, saw more than 30 students from across the Kalgoorlie-Boulderregion’s six secondary schools share their stories, explore local challenges, and co-design solutions to address issues affecting young people living in the Goldfields region.
With the support of FRRR’s donors, five local community organisations will use these FRRR ABC Takeover Youth Catalyst Grants to partner with these young changemakers to turn their ideas into reality.
Following on from the Summit, these projects will continue to empower Goldfields’ students to connect with community leaders, youth networks, politicians and media professionals, learning practical skills to help harness their ideas for real community impact.
The grants are generously co-funded by the Sally Foundation and Bunnings Warehouse.
