South Shoalhaven Community Expo celebrates, strengthens and connects

Community Stories, IRCF News, 17 September 2025

The fourth annual South Shoalhaven Community Expo, held earlier this month in Ulladulla, continued its evolution into a vibrant platform for connection, collaboration and community-led recovery.

The inspiring opening ceremony, led by the local high school Didg Crew miribi bunbal and dance group bunaan yandabal grounded everyone and set the scene for an impactful day.

Originally launched to support post-bushfire and pandemic resilience, the Expo has proven to be a sustainable model bringing together NFPs, local groups and changemakers to share resources, spark ideas and amplify impact.

FRRR Program Manager Carolyn Ardler commented, “This fourth Expo was an energy-filled day and reflected beautifully the tapestry of the Milton Ulladulla Community.”

This year’s event featured more than 115 community groups, interactive hubs, open spaces for dialogue and co-design, and standout youth involvement, with hundreds of students contributing energy, creativity and leadership. The Expo remains a vital opportunity for NFPs to build visibility, connect with funders, recruit volunteers and strengthen partnerships.

The event was organised by Community Connect South Shoalhaven, whose mission is to help the helpers. Creating annual events like this enables the groups to connect, network and celebrate their community. More than just a showcase, the expo is a living example of what happens when communities are empowered to lead their own renewal.
