FRRR bushfire recovery appeal launched

Media Releases, 12 January 2026

Over the past several days, we have been closely watching the unfolding bushfire emergency across Victoria – especially the situation in central Victoria, where so many of our team live.

FRRR has launched its Disaster Recovery Appeal

After supporting communities in the wake of the 2009 Black Saturday and 2019/20 Black Summer fire events, we know just how deep and long-lasting the impacts of these events will be. We are already seeing the value and importance of local leadership and community action. Support will be needed to sustain the recovery for the months and years ahead.

That’s why we have activated our Disaster Recovery Appeal.

Many small communities have been severely impacted by the bushfires and, unfortunately, it’s not over yet, with several active and out of control fires still burning. Conditions in the ACT, NSW and SA are also extreme, along with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji and evolving flooding in far north QLD. We are monitoring all events closely.

FRRR’s CEO, Natalie Egleton, says that your generosity now will enable FRRR to walk alongside these communities to support their recovery in the months and years ahead.

“Every community is different and needs will change and evolve, especially once the immediate relief efforts have concluded. It will be important that there is support available in the medium to longer-term.

“FRRR has been a trusted partner for many of these communities over the last 25 years and we’ll be there to support them again, as they recover, rebuild, process this devastating experience and heal.”
