The Volunteer Emergency Services Fund grant program supported the needs of local volunteer emergency services and first responders supporting communities affected by the Black Summer bushfires.

Grants of up to $25,000 were available for disaster preparedness and response activities that included rebuilding or upgrading emergency services infrastructure and replacing or upgrading emergency services equipment; enabling the support and management of an emergency services volunteer workforce through recruitment and training; and programs to support volunteer mental health and wellbeing.

New kit bags for Tinonee Rural Fire Brigade

Tinonee Rural Fire Brigade received funding to develop two emergency “Go” bags for when members need to use personal vehicles in times of emergency to enhance their safety. The go bags include items such as battery powered torches, fire blankets, safety beacons, fire extinguisher, drinking water, first aid kit and navigation aids.

Bermagui Volunteer Marine Rescue refurbishment

The Bermagui Volunteer Marine Rescue crew have received funding to execute a well developed plan to upgrade facilities fit for search and rescue operations. The refurb will include an enclosed sound proof room for day-to-day radio operations, as well as a separate room to conduct training, meetings, and search and rescue coordination / exercises.

Creating a Community Hub in Meering West

An FRRR Small Grant aided the CFA in Meering West, Victoria, to purchase and install antennas that enable improved mobile reception and internet access.
