Strengthen rural communities in 2022 and beyond

Despite the challenges of managing through cumulative disasters, and the impacts of COVID-19, rural community groups are still working hard to create a vibrant community, and to ensure that no one is left behind. But without being able to run their usual fundraising events or provide services that generate income, more and more of these groups are seeking support from FRRR. That’s why we’re asking you to consider adding a gift for these groups to your Christmas giving this year.

Communities request more support than we can currently offer

During the 2020-2021 financial year, FRRR received requests for more than $55M in funding, via 2,041 applications. As happens every year, requests exceeded the funding we had available. This meant that 246 worthy applications requesting $6.8M could have been supported had the funds been available.

Donating to our SRC program will help us to fill this gap and meet the needs of communities who are relying on support and funding. Your donation will help us to reduce the number of not-for-profit organisations and community groups that we will otherwise have to say no to.

Why give to a collaboratively-funded program?

We know from experience that local communities are best-placed to know what their communities need – because every place is different. By contributing to this program, together with a range of our donors, you allow community groups to have access to funds for the things that they prioritise. This could be issues as diverse as health and wellbeing, social connectedness, infrastructure, economic empowerment, organisational capacity and much more. Our collective donations are pooled, and fund the grants we’re able to make through the Strengthening Rural Communities program.
