About the role
The Youth Futures Program Officer will be instrumental in delivering our Youth Futures initiatives, including Backing the Future by VFFF and FRRR, the FRRR ABC Heywire Youth Innovation Grants, and the FRRR ABC Takeover Youth Catalyst Grants. Excitingly, this is a flexible role that can be undertaken remotely from NSW or QLD, or hybrid from our Bendigo office. We are open to candidates applying for the position as either a part time role or full-time role.
As a result, the role can be between 0.6 FTE – full time (22.8 to 38 hours per week), as long as you have the availability to work primarily during business hours and the space in your life to plan for 4–6 multi-day outreach trips per year to visit the communities where we work.
We encourage applications from anyone who feels they can advocate for the unique challenges and opportunities faced by young people growing up outside of our major cities. While you may have experience in similar roles, we also welcome applications from applicants excited about the opportunity that this role can provide as a stepping stone towards a fulfilling career. For anyone who is currently studying in an aligned field, there is also the possibility for a flexible or part-time work schedule that could provide valuable on the job experience.
We are first and foremost looking for someone who is excited about the opportunity this role presents to provide remote, rural and regional youth with opportunities and supports to create impact in their community through our grant programs. We are looking for a people person who can connect with community organisations and support young people doing great work across remote, rural and regional Australia to build their confidence and skills and unearth hidden gems. We recognise that many of the skills the successful applicant needs to perform well in this role can be learnt on the job, and we are committed to providing professional development for the right applicant who may not have direct work experience across all the selection criteria.
