One dilemma less for Gracemere’s SES

Community stories: 26 September 2017

During significant weather events, Gracemere SES in Queensland is faced with the dilemma of which communities get assistance first, with only one of their two vehicles was fitted with a storm and rescue tray. A $5,000 Domino’s Give for Good grant got both vehicles on par, and the timing was perfect - the upgrade happened within weeks of Tropical Cyclone Debbie impacting the area.

NSW communities Get Ready for natural disasters

FRRR and the NSW Government, through the Get Ready NSW initiative, are collaborating to develop and evaluate effective community-led disaster preparedness practices. A roadshow is underway through some NSW communities at risk of disaster, with a view to finding communities to partner with us in developing and testing indicators, methods and tools to improve preparedness.

Creating the Oodnadatta Arts and Crafts Collective

Community stories: 26 June 2017

Volunteering SA and NT received a $10,000 ANZ Seeds of Renewal grant to develop a women-led arts and crafts social enterprise, through research, the creation of an action plan, provision of training and materials to set up the business at the newly renovated Women’s Shed in Oodnadatta.

Kidz Group provides a safe place for kids impacted by domestic violence

Community stories: 15 June 2017

The effects of domestic violence on children are well documented, yet often there are no systems in place to support these kids who witness the physical and /or sexual and emotional abuse, threats, and aftermath of such incidents. Speak Out 4 Kids project, in the Nambucca Local Government Area, received a $45,000 I4CI grant to help deliver an eight-week program called Kidz Group for children aged between 8-12 years who have experienced living with or being exposed to domestic violence and are no longer in that environment.

Hot spot snapshots – Tasmanian Midlands biodiversity

A $4,000 grant from the Small Grants for Rural Communities program, funded by the Yulgilbar Foundation saw Greening Australia run two activity field days at Cressy and Campbell Town, south of Launceston in Tasmania, for their ‘Hot Spot Snapshot’ program.

Twenty-four community groups impacted by the 2009 Victorian bushfires have received funding to support the community needs that continue to emerge post the devastating disaster, thanks to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund. There 15 GR&W grants, and 9 Community Group Futures grants.

Cotton grants bearing fruit for local communities

Media releases: 13 December 2016

A further 30 not-for-profit and community organisations across cotton growing regions will benefit from a $5,000 boost just before the festive season, as the 2016 Aussie Cotton Farmers Grow Communities grants are awarded again. $450,000 has now been distributed over the last three years across New South Wales and Queensland.

Grants from ANZ Seeds of Renewal program support 29 community projects

ANZ and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) have today announced that $275,000 in grant funding will be shared between 26 community groups from across regional Australia, while another three groups will receive IT equipment, as part of the 2016 ANZ Seeds of Renewal program.
