Four health service projects receive big boost

Four organisations share in over $475,000 in Enhancing Country Health Outcomes (ECHO) grants. The program supports organisations to implement vital health services in rural and regional communities in NSW and Victoria.

Fundraising account supports military museum

Community stories: 26 September 2018

The Atherton Rotary Club wanted to restore a historic military igloo built in the 1940s and used during the war in the Pacific. The igloo was an essential space for social activities for thousands of patients and staff from the Rocky Creek Hospital. A fundraising campaign, using an FRRR fundraising account and a $20,000 grant from the Culture, Arts, Tourism and Community Heritage (CATCH) grants program allowed them to restore the facility and create a military museum.

Glenburn growth project

Community stories: 30 August 2018

The Glenburn Hall has become a crucial hub for community cohesion in Glenburn since the 2009 Victorian Bushfires, with good numbers of locals regularly attending community events. However the Hall Committee identified a problem of declining attendance, attributing it to poor acoustics. A Community Group Futures grant of $10,000, courtesy of the Victorian Bushfire Association Fund, funded the installation of special acoustic panelling.

Grants to address the tough topics facing rural and regional youth

FRRR today announced 20 groups will receive grants to implement ideas developed at the 20th Heywire Regional Youth Summit. The communities benefiting from the grants are spread right across Australia, from Alice Springs NT, to Riverside TAS, Theodore QLD, Victor Harbour SA, Orange NSW, Albany WA and Foster VIC.

Geelong Grammar School’s Institute of Positive Education Project aims to share the methodology of Positive Education throughout Australia and to encourage adults to embed positive psychology tools fostering improved mental health and wellbeing in their teaching, mentoring and rearing of children.

Catered training opportunity for Heyfield residents

Community stories: 25 July 2018

The Heyfield Community Resource Centre used a $9,720 ANZ Seeds of renewal grant to provide a special training opportunity for people living with a disability in the community. They ran a hospitality and horticulture course that focused on developing practical skills and support employability.

Grants support ongoing recovery of communities affected by Black Saturday

FRRR has announced more funding for projects supporting the ongoing recovery of communities affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires. Another 30 groups will share more than $340,000 to support projects that local communities have identified will assist in their ongoing recovery.
